Not as spectacular like the previous Northern Georgia Falls pictures and thank God not as serious as the photos of cars and houses submerged in the water we are seeing on TV, but this photo shows our backyard yesterday during the rain. Half of the fountain lower tier is covered by the water and the whole back was a lake slowly advancing toward the house.
Today the sun is drying most everything. We’ll see what tomorrow brings us.
How about you?
You’re right Sandy. The Dam at Lake Rabun was a sight to be seen yesterday and the spray coming up from it went a third of the way to the top of the dam. I loved sitting below feeling the spray on my face. Shady Lane was completely under water below the dam. Today, however, the mountain patrol says its clear and drivable. I saw no damage within sight to anything along Lake Rabun & Lake Seed as I drove to Helen along the back side of the lakes. Hopefully all faired well.
We live near the top of Screamer Mountain, therefore most of the water flows down from us. However, our two year old porch roof decided there was too much water too soon, so we developed a small leak. Now, the task of another repair.
Do hope all my fellow artists and art lovers faired much better and we are very grateful the rain stopped for a few hours at the Fall Festival.
I did hear that the roads to the lakes were flooded and that Georgia Power had to open the gates to let some water out. Must have been scary living near a creek or river.
Wonderful pictures of the waterfalls. Really powerful.
