Rodney’s love for creating pottery began as a hobby several years prior to retirement as a physician in Shelby, NC.  He began with adult education courses, gravitating toward wheel thrown work early on.  Rodney made primarily functional pottery, but also enjoyed Raku and making decorated tiles.  After retirement, Rodney studied further with potters such as Tom Kerrigan, Paul Frehe, Kathy Triplett, and “Doc” Welty, developing new techniques in hand building, slab work and surface decoration.

Rodney was a longtime and beloved member of the North Georgia Arts Guild.
